The Cash Learning Partnership in its 2015-2019 Strategy added a major component to its capacity building strategy to include building capacity for the institutionalization and preparedness of cash transfers based on demands from the community of practice.

CaLP is looking to hire a part-time Organizational Change Manager to respond to the demand for organizational change experience and dedicated time that will be generated by our institutionalization initiative.

Objectives

1. Refining organizational change methods and tools

The consultant’s objective is to support refinement of CaLP’s existing institutionalization support methods and tools and associated training of trainers. The review will incorporate feedback and lessons learned from pilots by CaLP and others.

The consultant will work collaboratively with CaLP and, potentially, representatives of organizations that have piloted the institutionalization initiative, to strengthen and broaden current methods and tools, contributing to the implementation of the institutionalization process. The consultant will offer broad expertise and insight in organizational change, ensuring that the methods and tools stimulate and respond to issues related to change.

2. Supporting institutionalization in the US

The consultant’s work aims to support improvements in cash preparedness for 5-8 organizations based in the US or Canada by March 2017. For each institution, the consultant will support engagement with the institution’s senior leadership. S/he will work collaboratively with CaLP and a broad range of representatives of the organization to diagnose the institution’s cash-related organizational change needs, to develop and monitor an action plan to respond to the support needs, and, as appropriate to deliver organizational change technical assistance in support of the action plan.

Essential profile of the consultant:

  • Masters’ degree in Organizational Change, Business Administration, or similar
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in business management or management consulting with at least 5 years’ experience facilitating organizational change with multiple organizations
  • Experience working with international non-governmental organizations required; experience working with humanitarian organizations preferred
  • Experience in senior management of mid- to large-scale organization (greater than 100 employees or implementing greater than $45,000,000 in assistance per year) preferred
  • Experience adapting and utilizing organizational change tools
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new subject matter quickly
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong writing skills
  • Familiarity with humanitarian cash transfer programming preferred
